The American Judicial System and our legal processes are often misunderstood by citizens. This web site is designed to answer some of your questions about Kentucky's Court of Justice, one of our three branches of government, and to familiarize you with its operation.

Government should be a servant of the people. It is vitally important that Kentuckians understand how it works. The judicial branch of state government guards our constitutional rights as citizens of Kentucky and the United States of America. Only through knowledge and awareness of our justice system can we support and defend its principles and learn to use it properly.

This web page will provide you a better understanding of your state court system. I trust it will prove useful to you.

Sincerely,

Joseph E. Lambert
Chief Justice
Commonwealth of Kentucky
